Advance Screening of Columbia Pictures Goosebumps #GoosebumpsMovie #Boston #adCONTESTS | Nirasha Jaganath | October 8, 2015 at 7:51 am
This Sunday is my birthday. It is also my husband’s birthday. Yeah, we like to keep it weird like that here. Well, we’re not the only one with a birthday coming up, so is R.L Stine. Well how about you get the presents for this fab occasion? I thought you would agree with that. If you are excited about the upcoming movie Goosebumps then we have a surprise for you!
I’m hosting a screening in the Boston area and I have a whole theater of tickets to give away! Also because I rock, these seats are for a Saturday and by doing it in the morning we can hopefully make sure the wee ones don’t get more scared than usual.
Hold on, let me tell you a little bit about the movie first:
Scholastic has over 400 million Goosebumps books worldwide in 32 languages in print since the series introduction in 1992, earning critical acclaim and dominating global best seller lists. R.L. Stine has been recognized as one of the bestselling children’s authors in history. Now, the literary phenomenon is coming to the big screen.
In Goosebumps, teenager Zach Cooper (Dylan Minnette), upset about moving from a big city to a small town, finds a silver lining when he meets the beautiful girl, Hannah (Odeya Rush), living right next door, and makes a quick friend in Champ (Ryan Lee). But every silver lining has a cloud, and Zach’s comes when he learns that Hannah’s mysterious dad is in fact R.L. Stine (Jack Black), the author of the bestselling Goosebumpsseries. As Zach starts learning about the strange family next door, he soon discovers that Stine holds a dangerous secret: the creatures that his stories made famous are real, and Stine protects his readers by keeping them locked up in their books. When Stine’s creations are unintentionally released from their manuscripts, Zach’s life takes a turn for the weird. In a crazy night of adventure, it’s up to Zach, Hannah, Champ, and Stine to team up and get all of these figments of Stine’s imagination – including Slappy the Dummy, the girl with the haunted mask, the gnomes and many more – back in the books where they belong to save the town.
My girls are 8 and 10 years old and I seek out movies that deliver on adventure but still keep it family friendly (I have resorted to showing them movies of my day) so I’m crazy excited to see this. I haven’t seen it yet so I’ll be watching it with you guys if you’re at the screening. The awesome part about coming to the screening, other than a free movie, is bragging rights to watching the movie a full week before it is released.
Tickets vanish fast so go grab yours now! Don’t forget to print and bring those passes to the theater. I would turn up early to grab the best seats in the house.
