5 Reasons to watch Earth To Echo! (Giveaway)! #earthtoecho #Boston

BOSTON AND AROUND, REVIEWS & CONTESTS | | July 19, 2014 at 5:08 am

I know I wrote a post giving several readers screening passes (you lucky devils I could not make any of them so I paid and watched it on my own) but I said nothing on my thoughts about the movie Earth To Echo  because I had not yet seen it. Also you would recall they had a promotion with Code.org and any movie that promotes coding is a favorite as hubby and I were both software engineers.

But now I have seen it, and ma here to tell you why you should go see it too.

5 Reasons to watch Earth To Echo

1) It promotes engineering and innovation!

The setup to measure sounds, reroute calls etc inspires kids to use technology in a way that makes sense for their needs. They don’t consider what they have to be the “end” but more of a “where can I take it from here”

2) It focuses on relationships!

Everything from friendships between the kids to foster kid relationships, it deals with loyalty, trust and team work.

3) It allows them to think outside the boundaries!

Space creatures, government cover-ups, mysterious powers etc all form for thinking outside the regular boundaries for kids. I always stress that kids are way smarter than we think and loathed toys which told kids what to do when they were little. The sky space is the limit when it comes to kids’ imagination and potential

4) It has the perfect balance of tech!

While the kids have smartphones they use their regular bikes to ride on. It mixes real adventure in the dirt with technology embedded adequately in

5) It has a girl!

Ok, I’m going to admit I DID want the girl to be a little more central in the friendship and I did hope that she played an even more prominent role. But they had a girl and she was not there for just face value. I need my girls to see smart girls who are adventure ready. I loved that the character was smart, confident and not scared of adventure.

And now an incentive to help 20 of my readers to go watch it.

Okay, so earlier I wrote a sohwemat lengthy message on here, but my computer was acting up so it got deleted. But to summarize what I wanted to say, I’d like to reiterate everyone else by saying you’ve done a brilliant job with this page and it nearly made me cry. It’s so heartbreaking to know what’s going to happen and to see how scared Nathan is but how determined he is to do what he must, regardless of that fear. Nathan Hale is such a hero of mine because of his extreme bravery. You really have done him justice. And when you mentioned Tallmadge a couple posts above this, I got pretty excited. Are you including the Culper Ring in The Dreamer soon? Because if you are, that’s one of my favorite bits of the American Revolution because it’s so freaking clever the way it worked!Oh, but I understand if you don’t want to answer that question.
