Hosting, or Being Hosted, I like being noticed! #pcholiday

Personal Creations could not have asked a bigger fan to talk about their products. If you know me personally, you would know I love hosting parties. Besides the fact that I need the excuse/incentive to actually clean my home (don’t pretend like you don’t), I love cooking and I love enjoying people. I have a small home, but my home  parties always have throngs of people attend.

Most, if not all, of the time I cook everything from scratch. My dad used to have a frame with the saying “Home is small, but welcome is great!” and until I had my own family I never quite understood the depth of that saying. I have friends who have fancier and bigger homes, but I do know that people who come to my home, linger long after the party is done. To me, that is a successful party.

Always willing to feed an extra mouth, making sure I make every guest comfortable by learning who they are before and presenting food in an unforgettable way. Back when I was growing up I used to declare “formal nights” because I wanted total focus on the meal, no television being allowed to be part of the meal. My sisters fussed but my mom got them to indulge me. Even when money was tight I would improvise. I recall using ferns as name plate holders.

When I got to the USA I did not even have furniture but I would entertain. Friends did not mind sitting on my blow up mattress as the conversation and food distracted them. When we were looking to purchase our 1st house my hubby kept insisting that parking space be available for our visiting friends and the realtor looked at us crazily as we dismissed her talking about the schools in the area (we had no kids so obviously that was on the bottom of our requirements). I don’t think I’ve hosted a party where someone has not asked me “Where did you get that?”, in fact I pride myself on doing something different each time.

In this world of rush, rush, rush and “why should I bother?” – I have made it a point to welcome friends, make the time (note I said “make” and not “have”), and make the extra effort. In details we say that “you’re special” and worth giving my time to make you feel that way. I am a pack rat when it comes to collecting fabulous entertainment items and if personalized, even more. It is not just at my home, but whenever we are invited, I like to take something special with me.

Whether it is a potluck type event or not, I always love making a special dish, Hubby calls for practicality for transporting it to the destination, but I demand style. When I place my container, before they peek inside (and I’m not shy to say I’m a fine cook too), the vessel would scream style.

A few of my favorite finds at Personal Creations: Casserole (check out both the ceramic casserole in round and regular and the stoneware casserole dishes),  beverage tub and the Wine/Champagne bucket.
