Aunts Need Mother’s Day cards too! #mommismsREVIEWS & CONTESTS | Nirasha Jaganath | May 1, 2013 at 8:02 pm
When Card Store approached me to design a card for Mother’s Day, my first thought was “Shouldn’t you be sending this site to my kids?” but their thought was I could design one for my mom. Well sadly my mom passed away a while back (in fact both my parents are not alive) and hubby is sans parents too. I am having a joint party for my girls in a month and the guest list is long, not of classmates (we have a separate party for that) but of friends we have made. You see we know, especially with having kids, how important having a family support system is, and so we decided to adopt family.
So while the day may be called “Mother’s Day” it is important to note people who have played key roles at this time. My darling friend Kameshnie is as close as a sister to me and has known me since pre-marriage days. Of course when the girls were born she played an even bigger role. Of course it sucks major league that she chose the wrong coast of the USA to settle in (come back to Boston girl) but that did not deter her from being the best aunt in the world.
She calls on every single birthday. She knows their favorite color. She always takes the time to talk to them (Skype anyone?). She knows their styles. She does NOT forget their age. She has been present for several of their milestones. Her mom considers them her grandkids. The favorite thing about her? She loves them!
Of course it would be sad to not have special cards made just for aunts as special as they are. I remember a time when I used to buy regular Mother’s Day cards and send and really it felt fake so I am excited when there are actual cards designed for that special aunt.
I love that Card Store has several cards for Aunts for Mother’s Day and I love that they are customizable. If you’re anything like me you will have the bulk of your pictures in Facebook (I’m sure it can’t be just me??) so this makes it wicked easy that to get access to the pictures already in your Facebook albums though it can access it from your computer if you’re one of those freaky good organized type of people who stores their pictures neatly on your laptop. The best part? This is so fast and so unlike the good old days when you wait for images to load (am I dating myself here?).
Of course the kids are going to further add some 3D customizations when the card gets here aka GLITTER but this makes it extra special. Here’s hoping my sweet hard working (ahem workaholic) does not notice this post so she is surprised in the mail. I love that if I am short for time (always!) Card Store can stamp and mail my card too!
