5 Fab Gifts Under $50 for Mother’s Day From Novica! (Win $100 gift card)

CONTEST CLOSED!

Congratulations Michele!

Like Fair Trade? Yeah, me too! I go gaga over products I know have been created with heart behind them. While 3rd world countries are vying for something to look mass produced, the rest of the world is looking for “different” “quaint” “homemade”. The issue with many mass sellers is that artisans get forgotten. Novica invited me to look into their store this Mother’s Day and quite frankly I was taken back to the artisans sitting on the beach in Durban, South Africa where they weaved and beaded. Admittedly I took for granted being able to talk to the artisans themselves and purchase directly.

I love not just being able to peruse beautiful craftsmanship but also to easily see their history. I love seeing the faces of some of the artists and reading their story. The worldly aspect of the themes bring comfort to me knowing that everyone gets to explore the beauty lying in other countries.  The fact that they work with National Geographic to give talented artisans around the world a place to express their artistic talents and provide access to the world market. My love for National Geographic is immense and expect to hear more in upcoming posts about them.

After looking at the site it was hard to choose just a few items to highlight but I hope these engage you enough to peep in to see their huge and fabulous collection. Style normally comes with a huge price which is out of the league of several shoppers and is due to the several markups but increasing the levels of the middleman. I was really surprised to see realistic prices for pieces of work that would not be one those cookie cutter pieces you get in most brick-and-mortar stores.

To give you a snapshot of how affordable style can be I chose a few items to highlight.  I also love how each of these pieces are usable and can easily become part of your life without collecting dust somewhere, and yet remain art!

There’s clothing, jewelry, paintings, home decor and more to choose from. Plus, a little something for my readers, see details at end!

If you want more details on each of the items, click on the picture of the item. You can learn more about the artist and/or history of the item. Note that although I am listing prices below they may vary on the site. Please see site for updated prices.
