Happy National Coffee Day! (Giveaway)CONTESTS, REVIEWS & CONTESTS | Nirasha Jaganath | September 29, 2012 at 8:40 am
I write. I wish I could write more but normally need sustenance to keep on. I could skip easily on the food but any writer would tell you a warm beverage keeps the words flowing. How often do you see someone sitting with a laptop and a drink to keep them going? It is no secret that coffee houses are a writer’s best friend. The only issue with going to a coffeeshop is that it is really expensive, well that and the fact that I have to wear decent pants to appear in public. I normally am a hardcore chai (the made from scratch kind) drinker with bouts of coffee during the day.
Issue is that my sustenance during the day is hard to keep up with since it means me waking up from the chair, away from my MAC, and to spending needless time away from writing while I make something. Time, I can’t afford. Heck even pee-ing takes a back seat (my friends call it pee-crastination). When hubby works from home he and I quibble over who will make the beverage. Sometimes we both are stubborn enough to rather go without than miss our work. In fact last week I was at my wits end and said that I need to just buy a coffee machine. The minimalist (read cheap) hubby scoffed at the splurge (read necessity). I was offended that the man did not realize how much I depend on my fuel to churn out the brilliance (ok, ok the fuel to keep me awake?). I decided to make a stand.
In a few weeks is my birthday, one of the big ones. Gulp, I will let you guess. And for a present to myself I chose not jewels or clothing but a coffee maker. I think after over 4 years of running the blog, I kind of deserved it. Agree? Anyway as fortune would have it, I received a reminder email from Tully‘s about the National Coffee Day and it seems I ignored their previous invitation to try their coffee to honor it. Shame on me for letting my unread emails pile on me. And it seems those folks at Tully guessed that I had no coffee machine and to make sure I tried their coffee wanted to send me a coffee machine too.Whether it was the timing or the fact that all my peer’s blogs are wrought with posts of coffee celebration, I decided that it was perfect. They even offered a leather bound journal to writean Ode to Coffee. Ahh, I need a few more cups to work on that!
So to compensate for the the lost time they overnighted the package to me (anyone else here falling in love with Tully’s or is it just me?).
I don’t know the fine art of coffees, and I won’t insult your intelligence to pretend to. I will tell you they come from Seattle where every famous coffee comes from, and coincidentally Seattle also has my best friend who is god-mom to my kids. A con-incidence? I think not. Anyway, here is more about the company:
