Pepsi Next: A First Taste (Review)!

REVIEWS & CONTESTS | | March 22, 2012 at 6:31 pm

I just had a little package delivered to my door which surprised me. A 6 pack of Pepsi Next arrived packed cold at my door and I was not expecting any such package (I was not asked to review it and there was no note in it). It is supposed to have 1/2 the sugar of regular soda (60% to be exact). Full confession here: I think soda is bad for you. Period! Another confession: if you want to make me a happy girl, buy me a Diet Coke. True Story! Ask my husband, I know, he has it easy.

Anyway, we don’t stock soda in the home for the same reason but if I did go for anything it would have been a Diet Coke. Some people say they can’t tell the difference between Pepsi and Coke, but those who drink it can. I would hardly down a can of Pepsi but I did drink the Pepsi Next. Of course the fact that there is artificial sweetener did bother me, but it did not have so much of “Pepsi” taste in it. So while I did enjoy the drink, I am still not sure if it was because it was 84 degrees today or not.

Are you a Pepsi or a Coke?

I can taste the difference between Pepsi and Coke also. I use to be an avid Pepsi drinker until i became pregnant with my 2nd child. Apparently she wanted no parts of Pepsi, so i had to switch over to Coke. (My husband loved that because he’s a Coke drinker) :) If I ever get the chance i would try Pepsi Next

Try it Heather and I would love to know whether you think you can tell the difference – this was one time it was tough for me.

Funny, I’ve been a Coke girl my whole life and recently have really been liking Pepsi.

Unfortunately (probably for me) I don’t like diet sodas, or artificially sweetened anything, really. I tried it last night and Pepsi Next tasted like a diet soda to me. So I’d imagine if you’re already enjoying Diet Pepsi, why this? And if you don’t like Diet Soda, not sure this will do it for you.

Still, I do appreciate the effort to reduce sugar–which is totally admirable–and I’m interested to how this goes for them.

And boy that packaging was pretty!

I remember last year at BlogHer hunting high and low for Diet Coke – conferences are for my bad-habit indulgences. I agree on the sweetener thing – truth is if they omitted it already I would still drink it – heck I would drink anything cold on a hot day.

I am a pepsiholic, have been for the last 30 plus years. i can easily tell pepsi from coke and also taste the differences in pepsi itself.

The pepsi from the fountain machine at a popeyes is the best i have ever tasted.

The dentist told me i had to stop drinking so i did for 34 days, i then saw a bottle of Pepsi Next and i had to taste it – it was ok.

Everything to a degree is bad for us, so i guess we should do everything in moderation. if pepsi sales go down it will probably be because i have stopped again.

What do you think of Pepsi Next? Better than regular?

i don’t think its better but it’s growing on me.

i’ve always felt that all sodas taste better when you drink them at room temperature poured over ice.

the popeyes i mentioned earlier uses filtered water at the soda fountain machine and i feel that is what makes their pepsi taste the best.
