Dr. Oetker’s Ristorante Pizza (Giveaway)

CONTESTS, REVIEWS & CONTESTS | | March 23, 2012 at 10:52 am

Congratulations Raine! If there is one meal that everyone loves it has got to be a pizza. Whether it is the smell of the dough baking, or cheese  bubbling or the oodles of topping variations – there is a pizza for everyone. True, my kids love the plain cheese pizza and hubby and I love the toppings. I loved the opportunity to review Dr. Oetker’s Ristorante pizza because while I like pizza I am not very impressed with pizza out of the oven.

More attractive to taste-testing this was the fact that it was a crispy crust pizza so none of that thick frozen crust which never seems to comes out perfect: mostly too frozen or burnt. I have to admit that even when I popped the pizza in the oven I had small expectations, though it was going to be my only dinner for the night so I was really hoping I would be wrong. True it was a cheese pizza I was trying out but this was no “kiddie only” pizza – the Quattro Formaggi had a A delicious blend of mozzarella, edam, emmental and blue cheese, with basil seasoning sitting on a crispy thin crust.

I was anxious how the blue cheese would be since I am not a fan of it raw and my taste-buds loved what it tasted like melted. The tangy cheese on top of a crispy, cookie crisp but not too hard, crust elevated the pizza to gourmet standards in my book. Ok, in all fairness, I am no foodie, but I do know what it tastes compared to my corner pizza store (which I love) and I care safely say I would rather pop this in the oven than purchase one there. For some reason thin-crust is not so easily attainable, which is a pity since I do love it.

In case you are wondering, there are other varieties too (I am dying to try the mushroom one):

Ristorante Speciale
This thin crust pizza topped with pepperoni, cooked ham, mozzarella and edam cheese and spicy herbs is sure to make for a culinary feast.
