Read And Romp In Boston!

I hardly enter contests but when I saw a contest for Read And Romp I actually entered over at Stowed Stuff. Being a blogger I guess I could have just worked with the company but I figured that would mean having to write about it (as much as I love writing, when you have an overloaded schedule it really gets to be work). Which is rather ironic because I am writing about it now – but that is totally because I totally loved it so much I had to share.

A reading event mixed with author and activities, where even the activities were literature inspired. When you have 2 good readers in the home, even if they are just 4 and 6, this type of event is like a heaven. I loved that my kids were actively engaged throughout the event and even enjoyed lunch too. Did I mention that the event included lunch? Because it did and it was delicious and came with live musical entertainment. Then back to the activities like dress up for Fancy Nancy, dot activities for The Dot, playing with baby bunnies for The Runaway Bunny, Karaoke, cookie decorating, crafts and my favorite was meeting Peter Reynolds – illustrator of The Dot.

Supporting the Reach Out And Read is a great idea. While I enjoyed the day I did wish that tickets were not as pricey ($50 or $60 at door per person) means that while the proceeds will help people in need, the actual stimulation of reading at the event is out of reach to the actual people who need that.
