Phineas And Ferb Live Show!

Seeing that my 6 year old has been yearning to move post Dora/My Little Pony phase we were decently happy that she chose Phineas and Ferb. At least compared to the sitcoms there is no meanness between siblings/parents, meanness which is normally depicted as cool and funny. We hiked to Worcester to watch the show and knew it would be a treat for adults and kids alike. Normally I would never opt to watch something on a school night but I knew this was worth it. So armed with pjs for straight after the show we headed to a meet and greet first. We got to meet Agent P, or Perry the Platypus as he is known by Phineas and Ferb.

It was highly interactive. It is hard to keep the younger crowd immersed in drama when al they are doing is watching. This show did its darndest  to keep the audience involved. And you know that it is their dedicated aim when the theme of the show is for Doofensmirtz to create an “audience controlinator” – speaking of which I think he might be the most beloved villain. From the get-go there is deep involvement – commencing with a quiz that I have to admit that I barely had answers too. Seriously, I had no idea that Phineas and Ferb were stepbrothers – but kudos to the show for making that as part of the show. When I got over those big pop-out eyes I could focus on the amazing costumes and entire staging decorations.

I also loved that sometimes the characters were in the audience so you were always trying to spot who would be near you. Using technology by way of a big background screen was so smart and wondering why more shows don’t use that too. A mixture of melody and props made up the rest of the show. The music, the wonderful music interspersed gave kids a reason to wake up an dance, which was totally encouraged.

Did I think the show was worth it? Absolutely! Always special to share with the kids a show we both have fun at.
