My Fashionista In Training!

If you know anything about me you would know I would live in sweat pants if I could and dragging a brush through my hair needs some serious incentives. Luckily I have enough swanky events in my calendar to make sure that I do get dressed up. Thanks to my kind friend Audrey I have a plethora of Lucky Magazines which somehow my newly minted 6 year old has taken a fancy to.  She spends a long time staring at the pages trying to absorb what is fashionable or not. It has become a little frustrating on a daily basis to try and get her to wear our choice of clothing, which is normally driven by the weather and practicality, while her choice is on “style”. In fact when I shared to a close friend about the fashion magazines and my daughter she laughed saying that did not sound like my girl and she was right.

Do you see those shoes in the picture? You’re probably wondering that that does not match her outfit? You would be right and she was pretty unhappy at our insistence that she wear the practical shoes. With her having SPD (sensory processing disorder) her balance and motor skills always make us to choose the “safe” shoes. Since our days are spent on therapies and on her special needs we somehow forgot that she was a little girl. To see her newly found interest is funny and refreshing and admittedly a little assuring too. I think from here on we will just let this beauty bloom!

You are all beauties! I love that she was unhappy about the shoes, must get her and my son Alex together – they’re 2 peas in a pod!

    Vanita says:

Your girls are beautiful! and watch out mama, she obsessed girls are expensive. My 13 year old has more shoes than the rest of the household of 6 put together. I buy her what she needs, the rest are up to her to save money for and when she’s out of cash, she goes to my husband. Once she went to him wearing a pink t-shirt, blue jeans and green sandals, in autumn, and all she had to do was say “Daddy, do you think I can wear this when we all go out this weekend? Does it look OK?” All with a pout. And he’ll pull out $25 and tell me to take her shopping. Bunch of creeps.

It’s great to see her fashion sense grow and that she can enjoy time being a sweet little girl. Thanks for sharing!
