My Job Chart – An Online Chore Chart (And It Is Free)!NEWS | Nirasha Jaganath | May 13, 2011 at 8:05 pm
Ever notice how much easier stuff becomes the more complicated our lives become? The fact that I can do more means I end up doing more. In fact the multitasking has driven the home crazy with choices and chaos. It also has become more difficult for kids to understand what is expected of them and when. Add to the fact that with us working more and trying to provide everything to our kids may mean that the value of the dollar may be whizzing right by our kids. Before the “gimmes” drive you crazy it might be time to explore some means of spelling out expectations for money.
My Job Chart is one of those websites that offers precisely that but the best part of it is that it is free. Sure you could draw a chart on the wall the old fashioned way with paper and markers but using the lingo of technology that everyone is used to might make the message easier, plus it is greener. Setting up is a cinch, and you really don’t need any more know how than using any social media tool. You can set up profiles for each of your kids and they actually access their charts themselves. Since you would be hard pressed to find a kid who does not know how to use a computer, it means all kids can update their own charts.
Having 2 kids of different ages and abilities I am glad that you can cater to the different ages. Being able to visibly see what they are earning motivates kids more to complete chores. Also they are in control of what they can spend or save. The cycle of assigning chores, completing them, receiving an email to say it was done and then even allowing you to send a progress report to the child in form of a post it like note. To children this is so important since so much of what they do, they crave approval for.
