I have heard forever about the Lowell Film Festival throughout the years but sad to say that I have not yet made it to any (blame my travel schedule). This year I decided to post about it as an incentive to actually make a bigger  effort to get there. This is the 4th year for the Annual Lowell Film Festival.

This year the theme is “Lowell on the Churn: The American Civil War, 1861-the Present”. Commemorating 150th Anniversary of the American Civil War by presenting feature films and documentaries that explore the War and a variety of related societal themes. As someone who understands that history plays a major role in our future I appreciate the focus as such.

The lineup is amazing –  “Traces of the Trade,” Buster Keaton’s 1926 classic “The General,” “Moving Midway,” “Chicago 10,” PLUS Academy Award winners and popular favorites, “Glory “and “Gone With the Wind.”  Lowell’s OWN Civil War history through Civil War Walking Tours and local exhibits at Lowell Gallery, the New England Quilt Museum, and the Mogan Cultural Center would also be included. You can also keep up with the Fest on Facebook (facebook.com/LowellFilmFestival) and Twitter (@LowellFilmFest).
