Win A Klutz Pack Valued At $75.99!
CONTESTS, REVIEWS & CONTESTS | Mommy Niri | December 3, 2010 at 6:57 amCONTEST CLOSED!!
Congratulations Beth!
I love craft stuff. Anything crafty. But for my kids. I craft like I dance – two left feet. My kids on the other hand love it. I love that they love it. Oh, not because it is creative and builds minds yada-yada-yada! Well, that too but my main reason is a selfish one.It gives me a break! There, I said it. It is like peace reigns supreme in my home when they do any craft or art type stuff. I would like to be one of those moms who can go to the craft store and buy those little bits and pieces of stuff to make stuff – really I bow down to you if you do. I won’t insult you by saying I don’t have the time to do that (I hate when people use that reason – who has the time anyway?) but it is because it is overwhelming to me. Also the thought of tagging along my kids shopping is not what I would call fun, and mommy time is, well, MOMMY TIME.
So when someone packages all the itty-bitty pieces for my kids to create their own masterpiece, it is something I would gladly make space for on the craft table. Enter Klutz, one of my favorite brands making quality stuff for kids – at an affordable rate. My 3 year old and 5 year sat down to do the Capsters and had a ball filling in glaze (which they used as glue too) and created fun designs. Sure my kitchen table is a little worse for the wear, thankfully it is made of glass, but to see such instant art was gratifying. Well, instant purely when the glaze dries -which may take longer than desired if, like my daughter, you decide to ooze out more than required.
The Window Art one was a little more difficult for my 3 year old but my 5 year old did fine. I am the mama who does not care about perfection (I used to in my pre-kids days) so I would rather my kid make her own art (although indistinguishable) rather than we do it for her to make it “just right” (yeah one day a mom who does this with her kid told me “sorry” my kid’s work did not come out great – to which I replied “Yes, but it is all her work!”), so I had fun seeing what they would concoct. Kids look at our eyes when they show us their art pieces so remember to let them see the pride you have for it.

I would do the crafts with my daughter and grandsons.
I would give it as a joint gift to my three children. The focus of my blog is “Seizing family time one dinner at a time.” Crafts is a way for my 7-, 12-, and 14-year-old to have fun together. My 14 yo had the Capsters kit as a little kid, so it would be fun to see her helping her brother do the Capsters kit.
