Meet Buck Withrow, A Skater With Princess Wishes – Disney On Ice!Uncategorized | Nirasha Jaganath | December 18, 2010 at 11:02 pm
As much as I love posting about news and events happening, especially around Boston, I realize much of my readers are not. I love to get scoops, or behind the scenes, stories for the blog. Yes, they are often more time consuming, especially interviews, but honestly they are one of my favorite things on MommyNiri.com. I had a telephone interview with Buck Withrow and his mom. Buck is a 23 year local New Englander skater that is on tour with the Disney On Ice team for the Princess Wishes show. I am so eager to see Disney On Ice, Princess Wishes and I am also giving away tickets to TD Banknorth, Boston show (3 Three lucky families). Make sure you head on over to that post after this to learn more about the show and maybe scoop some tickets too.
Since this was via the telephone the words are not verbatim but translated from my untidy scribbles.
I asked Buck how long her had been with the show Princess Wishes?
Buck had just started from September with this tour for Disney but has been touring with other shows for the past 3 years.
I inquired how long the show took to setup and pack up?
Buck said it took 10 hours to first setup and 4 hours to pack up.
I asked about how he arrived at the opportunity with Disney On Ice?
Buck was on tour with another show during summer in Ohio and got a call from casting after they saw a video of him skating.
I asked the mom how she felt about the safety of her son as he traveled?
She mentioned that she was pretty confident in the care that Disney as a company takes of their crew. She also felt they were a quality company.
I asked Buck what he did for fun?
Buck mentioned that he loved touring, hanging with friends, horseback riding and visiting something iconic in each city he visited.
I asked Buck what was practice like?
They practiced for 2 weeks in Florida with 1/2 returning cast and 1/2 new cast. Once running there is no rehearsal but those choosing to do so practice after the show for a few hours.
I asked Buck to give me an idea of what a road trip with the show meant?
The show normally packed up on Sunday and went on a coach bus overnight to the hotel.
I asked him about breaks?
He said they got anywhere from 1-3 days off.
I asked Buck how he stayed in touch with friends with all that traveling.
Besides calling home Facebook is used a lot. In fact it is how his mom and him keep in touch often – and yes they are “friends” on Facebook.
