Doing Healthy Choice The Vegetarian Way!REVIEWS | Nirasha Jaganath | October 5, 2010 at 7:26 pm
I was skeptical. On several counts. Firstly boxed meals are not a staple on our shopping list. Yes, being a vegetarian already kicks out several items from our shopping cart but more-so because we realize that processed food is not something we want as a part of our daily ritual. Sure we fall off the path on occasion but it is never the norm. When I was approached about trying the Healthy Choice Better For BlogHer I did so thinking I needed it so I was ready to join in but expected to be bored crazy out of my skull with lack of choices.
I was thrilled that the “All Natural” version of Healthy Choice did seem healthy but was even more pleased that it was tasty too. I really love that I see the veggies and that they were all just as complete and crunchy so I knew they were kept as natural as they could be. As much as I missed a little more flavor I was happy to see that they were not doused in sodium like so many boxed products. Though the range is much more extensive for non-vegetarians I felt there was enough for a vegetarian too.
On one occasion I did get excited to see more vegetarian options at another grocer and bought them. I did not enjoy the taste as much and then upon checking the box again found that they were not part of the “All Natural” selection. So then vowed to stick with that selection. The one favorite was definitely the Asian Potstickers and it was a tease to see so much flavor in there. I hope someday it seeps into other variations too.
Disclosure: Healthy Choice is providing me coupons for meal and a stipend to log my journey.
