So I really disliked You Gabba Gabba at first. I mean seriously try describing them to someone else. Freaky right? Then somewhere along the line while kiddie channel hopping we heard some catchy tunes. So I put aside my distaste for the fashion sense, or lack thereof (yeah even I have some weird standards) and decided to let an episode play until completion. The fact that I survived it is small accomplishment compared to the fact that my kids, who only watch their favorite shows, glued to the tube.
Then I listened to the lyrics. Woah, were those healthy lessons I was hearing? Could DJ Lance actually be putting in a good word or two and doing this mama a favor? Tunes ”Try it, you’ll like it” and “There’s a party in my tummy!” have made eating, and eating healthy, fun. Even to my picky girls they seemed to have been affected by the music. So my verdict is freaky hair and all these guys rock.
Kia Motors America is the presenting sponsor of the upcoming YO GABBA GABBA! THERE’S A PARTY IN MY CITY! tour. Now I am a big fan of the live shows, and I really believe live theater shows are really a magical experience to share with your child. The ultimate over the top and exhilarating feeling at seeing it all before your eyes is priceless. My favorite character is DJ Lance. I used to consider him “the saddest black man on television” due to his bright orange costume and that HAT! But I read an article saying he pretty much dressed in an “orginal” fashion when the producers first found him, so guess if he’s OK with looking like a dork, I can live with it, too.
