1-800-FLOWERS.COM wants to spread smiles across the nation this encouraging ummer. They’re calling it the “Summer of Smiles,” everyone to brighten someone’s day with thoughtful gifts and flowers. Flowers are amazing at uplifting the mood. Hubby is always a skeptic about spending on flowers that he feels will eventually die (foolish man, I know but trust me he has other redeeming qualities – hence I keep him around) but I know that moment of presenting someone with flowers.
While I am about to give you the chance to win a $50 gift card to 1-800-FLOWERS I did not get anything for myself but was given the chance to send a bouquet to someone. I chose my lovely sister whom I love but barely get to see as she lives on the west coast in sunny California (I know – crazy to have sisters on opposite ends of the coasts and the rest back in South Africa). My sister Seetha who has two kids with disabilities is someone who stops at nothing to make sure her kids have the best life in spite of difficulties. I am so proud at what a loving unquestionable mommy she is and I do know of no-one who deserves a moment of sunshine and smile.

My mother-in-law recently lost her husband to cancer. She often has bad days, and since we live about 1000 miles away, it has been difficult to cheer her up. We try to send notes from the grandkids, and call her a lot, but a beautiful cheery bouquet would be a wonderful and welcome surprise.
