African Dwarf Frog Eco-Aquarium From Wild Creations! (Giveaway)

CONTESTS, REVIEWS | | May 26, 2010 at 8:39 pm

CONTEST CLOSED!!

Congratulations Laura

There’s nothing like learning about nature than to see it in front of you. Problem with most “pets” is that the bulk of the feeding and cleaning falls on the shoulders of parents. Shoulders, I might add, that are so overloaded with responsibility that parents opt not to get a pet as they feel it too much. Still if many a parent were truthful they would admit to feeling a tinge of guilt that they could have something for their child.

When I was approached to review the African Dwarf Frog Eco-Aquarium I was a bit skeptical. I mean it is frogs. I am not squeamish… who am I kidding, I am! I have this yucky imagery when I think of frogs (I know not very nice sounding in a giveaway post but the truth). The movie Princess and The Frog did little to change that imagery. Well I lie, it did for my daughter. When I told her we would be getting frogs the first thing she said was “Mama can I kiss it so he can become a prince?” First thought was seriously did that get into my daughter’s head when I try and avoid princessy stuff, then I began to worry that my 3 year old would really want to kiss the frog.

Anyway images of scrubbing my fishbowl were dashed as I learned that this tank only needed to be cleaned once in 4 months (can someone say Yay?). All parts come in a kit, from the tank, gravel, pebbles, plant and food. By the way the food it ships with lasts a year (another Yay!).  Two live dwarf African frogs are shipped overnight to you – they make sure it is a date which works with you.  After getting spring water and easy assembly the frogs are ready to swim.

There is a special discount code that expires July 31. Just order the Jewel Starter Kit style (retail price $39.99) and enter “BLOGGER” (case sensitive, must be all caps!) at checkout to receive $10 off!  You can order other items too, but at least one Jewel Starter Kit must be in the order to get the discount. Check out the site to see that and other products.

As an added bonus you can win the Classic EcoAquarium Starter Kit (valued at $30) includes everything you need to get started with the Classic Water Garden Starter Kit. Package includes the Classic Water Garden, 2 Frogs, Food and Care Pack, and choice of base.

To win visit the Wild Creations site and tell me another product that you like. Contest ends 31st May 2010.

Disclosure: I received the kit to review.

Wow, I think this is the coolest giveaway I’ve every entered! Another great product that I like on their site is the Jewel Starter Kit – All in One Package. Actually everything they have is pretty neat.

Oh and I’m totally saying a very loud Yay on the not cleaning for 4 months part and hopefully the food isn’t alive or anything. Another great bonus is that tank looks pretty sturdy so there won’t be any kissing going on, “bleeaaaccck” – haha

Ooooh, I want! I want! My kids would be ALL OVER that. They just went on a field trip today with their 1st grade class and saw a huge frog pond with ginormous bullfrogs. I’ll bet the comparison will freak them right out!

I checked out the Wild Creations site – looks like you can order snails, too! I should order some for our pond.

I know my 10 year old would love this (she has seen something similar in the stores and asked for it). The Jewel All-In-One Starter kit would be a nice upgrade. I also like the snail and bamboo. I know from past experience with a fish tank, these two things help to keep the tank cleaner for a longer period of time.
