Congratulations Jennifer from Savor The Thyme!

So I am heading to Los Angeles, or more specifically Wisteria Lane, in a few days. Yes, that Wisteria Lane! Dana Delany, star of Desperate Housewives, is the celebrity spokesperson for the Child Hunger Ends Here campaign. While there we will be visiting a local food bank. Since I have volunteered at the Boston Food Bank I somewhat have an idea but am eager to help spread the word as a blogger. Not only will I, along with a team of 13 other bloggers, be spreading the word but we will all be holding local rallies.

If you are in the Boston area I hope you will join me at mine. Even if you are not and want to help I would love to hear from you. On May 6th I will be holding a rally during the Mom Nite Out event. So while you are pruned and pampered at a wonderful event at the Burlington Mall in MA, but you get to be part of something so much bigger. I would love to see you there. Stay tuned for more details on this and also the Wisteria Lane trip.

I have been to 2 birthdays this past month that asked to bring food for the food pantry in lieu of gifts. I was touched. In May I will also be hosting a joint birthday party for my girls and I plan to follow suit. I am thrilled that Con Agra Foods chose bloggers to spread the message. More-so mom bloggers, as we feel passionate as we stare at the faces of our children. No one should ever go hungry, and even more especially no child should be hungry.

You really can do so much with so little. A rally is so easy to hold and I would simply love to hear what you are willing to do for this amazing cause. A bake sale, a movie, a dinner, anything. Every little bit helps. Sign up now for a rally and they will send you banner, posters and even a bunch of coupons to get you started. Don’t feel overwhelmed. This is our problem, let’s take care of it!

Tell me what are you going to rally to end child hunger. You can win a  gift basket  which will include ConAgra Foods coupons, a branded reusable grocery bag, “Desperate Housewives” – Season 4 on DVD, and other items. Even if it is just buying something marked a percentage to Feeding America or collecting some food for the food bank, or donating online, leave a comment below to let me know.  I would love you sharing the message (through Facebook, Twitter or any way you can)!

Disclosure: I am being paid a stipend to for my participation in the campaign which will include online and offline activities. It is my pleasure and privilege to be associated with this campaign.

    Deb Anderson says:

I have worked for a charitable organization that also had a food pantry and I have seen firsthand what a struggle it is for moms and dads to keep food on the table for growing, hungry children. It touched my heart and now I always give to any food drive I run across. I usually stock up on non-perishables when they are on sale, so it’s no problem at all to go through my pantry every couple of months to donate food items that we just aren’t using. I know someone somewhere can use them!

I am fortunate enough to have a well stocked pantry. I am happy to say that if I know of someone in need, I put together a care package.
In fact, I’m getting one ready now. It’s chocked full of cereal, jam, soup, pasta, sauces, and I throw in some sweets, and yogurt and cheese slices.
