When I was approached by the guys at Fibers.com to review an item from their customized printed apparel it was just around the time I was thinking of getting a Mommy Niri t-shirt so I thought perfect timing. Now it is always dicey, in my opinion, to get sizing just right online so I was anxious at first. Since most of the products are t-shirts I figured the risk of fitting was less. Instead of shopping for a t-shirt I decided to try a light sweatshirt.
Designing the custom style online was a breeze, simple and intuitive. I was impressed by the clean and uncluttered site. I designed the front easily and then went easily to the back. Normally designing the back of a sweatshirt, that has a hood, is much more difficult as you never know where the hood will be. I thought I would be ok when I saw they had the hood in the picture and aligned the text. Unfortunately when I received the sweatshirt the hood, when not in use, would block out the writing on the back. I was a little disappointed on that and that is something to bear in mind if you design your own – make the print/text a little lower.
The fabric was pretty soft and felt comfortable. I took the light sweatshirt which still had a light fleece-type feeling underneath. I was unsure about the printing, which looked a tad like it had already taken a few washes. After a little digging I learned that they used natural inks so I attributed it to that. For a little bit of less chemical-feeling I could easily get used to it. The value though was definitely something that would make it easy for most to afford.
