Join Me In The Fight Against Child Hunger!NEWS | Nirasha Jaganath | March 15, 2010 at 8:23 pm
Bloggers have power. So it makes sense that we try and use that power for good. Right? When I was approached to join in the fight against Child Hunger with Con Agra, there was no thinking involved. Yes, there would be a lot of work involved but I love that I can use blogging to be a part of something so important. In the next few months Mommy Niri, along with a team of bloggers, will be heading full force to make our mark to impact on this issue. You can visit the Child Hunger Ends Here site for a wealth of information. Also keep updated on theFacebook and twitter pages.
When you think “Child Hunger” a picture of some 3rd world country safely tucked out of sight. Yes, the plight there is drastic but there is so much that goes unseen in your own neighborhood. Would it shock you to learn that 1 in 4 kids does not know where they will be getting their next meal? Sadly that is the truth.Another astonishing fact is that almost 17 million children are at a risk of hunger. I would be willing to bet those numbers have not taken into account all the job losses in the past few years.
I want to help. I want you to want to help. I know we can help. I would love to know that we can all make a difference. We know times are difficult for everyone, but effort is always something we can all offer. Simple actions like buying brands that you normally buy will, until 5/31/2010 send proceeds towards Feeding America. You will also find coupons to help make that even easier. You can get involved several ways including holding rallies (either your own or with existing events). You have more power than you believe and every bit of help makes a change in someone’s life.
I will be hosting something in the Boston area so if you would love to pitch in, I would love to hear from you. There is so much to say on a topic and I have enough personal stories to share. We are not immune to this, so help your community out – it is closer than you think. Stay tuned as we proceed on this journey together.
Disclosure: I am being paid a stipend to for my participation in the campaign which will include online and offline activities. It is my pleasure and privilege to be associated with this campaign.
