Happy Groundhog Day!NEWS | Nirasha Jaganath | February 2, 2010 at 11:39 am
Yes, today is the day Punxsutawney Phil comes out of his hiding place and tells the world if there will be six more weeks of winter. I am so not keen on another day of winter let alone 6 more weeks of winter. Of course I should moan less considering I just had a few days in Atlantis, right?
I somehow forget that Groundhog Day is a day for all rodents, be it mice, chipmunks, or rats (yikes I still have images of seeing them run across the tracks while waiting for a subway train in Boston). Though Phil may may get to wag his tail today, bother talented rodents that we all have grown to know and love. Maybe it is time to check out the some interesting tit-bits of these creatures. Now you don’t have to breed them in your home to get a closer look, but a visit to the library might be a good place to start. I know I will be talking to my girls about it tonight during our bedtime story (and save the gruesome details if you plan to do the same).
Mickey Mouse is probably the most famous rodent and has earned a place in the sun, but you can bring the fun by watching the movie Groundhog Day with Bill Murray or Pixar’s Rattatoullie. Don’t for one minute think that rodents have not caught up with technology as you can play Alvin & The Chipmunks: The Squeakquel game for wii.
All I know is that today is one day closer to summer and away from winter, no matter what that Groundhog says!
Disclosure: I received the Alvin and The Chipmunks wii game!
