Busytown Mysteries!

When I was approached to review the Richard Scarry’s Busytown Mysteries I was a bit unsure. Unlike most everyone my exposure to the series was very little. Stop looking so surprised, you know I did not grow up here so the television shows you are all used to I am not. But then again it is not like I have never heard of the series. A while back I saw a special of Richard Scarry’s Busytown special on the alphabet and numbers. Since I have 2 hardcore fans of numbers and alphabet anything that features it ( freaky I know).

Anyway I am a little snobbish about the kid’s shows I have on in my home. Since I have a 2 and 4 year old I prefer shows that are simple, and age appropriate. I am not a fan of too much hullabaloo happening at the same time. I love adventures and it was a pleasure to watch the 2 mystery episodes that was given to me on a screener copy to review. There is no huge hype but simple little clues as Huckle (one of the 6 main characters) solves the mystery. Characters are certainly weirdly proportioned but then again if I wanted reality I would switch the television off.

I really loved the problem solving as we get closer to solving the mystery and the episodes are short enough to hold theattention span of a preschooler.  Busytown Mysteries is the Winner of the Canadian Film and Television Production Association Award (CFTPA) for Best Children’s and Youth Series. It will also be screened on CBS on Saturday morning, so give it a watch and check where it shows in your local area.

Disclosure: I received a screener copy of 2 episodes of Busytown Mysteries on DVD to review!
