Back To School: Win Pirate’s Booty – A Chest Full of Snacks | Healthy Snacks for Kids
CONTESTS, HEALTH, PRODUCTS | Mommy Niri | August 28, 2009 at 5:40 am*** Contest Closed ***
Congratulations Natalia D.
Pirate’s Booty, is a deliciously baked all-natural snack made from puffed rice and corn. Pirate’s Booty comes in great subtle flavors like Aged White Cheddar, Barbeque, Veggie (vegan), Bermuda Onion and Sea Salt & Vinegar. All Pirate’s Booty products are low in fat (130 calories per serving) gluten and trans-fat free as well as tree-nut free! Other great-tasting snacks include Smart Puffs; all-natural baked corn puffs made with real Wisconsin cheddar and Original Tings; all-natural vegan crunchy corn sticks.
As a parent I am thrilled to have the healthier options for kiddie snacks. My kids just loved it. They did not notice any difference between high sodium snacks and the healthier Pirate Booty snacks. Mommy Niri has been covering healthy food topic through her previous posts - Alliances against Childhood Obesity, Organic Candy, Kids Snack Bar, Getting Kids To Eat Veggies, and Passing on My (Veg) Prejudices. Now, a special giveaway for Mommy Niri readers.

My kids love Pirate Booty snacks. I even included a small bag in each of the treat bags at my daughter’s last birthday party. One trick that I use when the kids are hungriest (it’s while I am making supper) is to have a bowl of cut veggies sitting on the table that they can snack on while they wait for supper to be ready. I find they eat more veggies that way instead of just serving them with the meal.

I’d love to win! http://bit.ly/186DCQ
we love the pirate snacks sometimes i will take the bags and cut out the pirate and glue it to a bag of carrots and my kids think that it is ok to eat that it is not just yucky veggies it is good pirate booty veggies.. yummy
I’ve enjoyed Pirates Booty for myself and it’s so cute to see the kiddie version. I love having something healthy to offer my kids in the house!
We’ve never tried the pirate’s booty but it looks so cute! And we’re always on the lookout for healthy snacks. I always try to make sure our fruit is washed up before being put away (such as grapes) so that when my 3 yr. old wants a snack, it’s quick and easy to grab regardless of what I’m doing. We’re also big fans of cheese strings, etc.

These look really good and the Pirate’s Booty theme will definitely appeal to my son. Some of our favorite healthy snacks are cheddar on Triscuits!
everyone would love this mverno@roadrunner.com
these look so cute! I wish I could offer more healthy snacks to my kids
Pirates Booty is tastey. We really enjoy snacking on fruit, especially the variety available in summer.
I think that the best snack for kids is fruits or vegetables(carrots, celery etc)

We snack on fresh veggies and fruit a lot. In the evenings we like popcorn. This would be a good alternative. Thanks.
Some healthy snacks we enjoy include fresh seasonal fruit, fresh veggies, and yogurt. It’s important to keep healthy snacks on hand so you reach for those first! I have enjoyed Pirate’s Booty before and would like to try their new varieties!

I have fruit, yogurt, and sugar free pudding readily available.
I find that if I have cut-up fruits and veggies easily accessible in the fridge that’s what the kids and mom and dad reach for. I love this prize, sounds yummy and nutritious.

It’s really important for our kids to eat healthy snacks, so naturally we prefer they eat fresh fruit. But, they are kids afterall, and want cookies, etc. We’ve just tried Snikkidy and like it very much. We’d like to try Pirate’s Booty as well.

My grandkids introduced me to Pirate’s Booty now I use it for myself as a healthy snack.
Healthy snacks usually do not come packaged. They are sometimes loaded with salt, sugar and added fat. It is nice to find a prepackaged snack without these added no-nos. I would be interested in trying Pirate’s Booty for my granddaughter.

I personally love healthy snacks, but my husband doesn’t. My kids love yogurt and fruit, unfortunatley, they aren’t a big fan of veggies.

booty..booty…booty!
We’ve been eating Pirate Booty since my son was one (3 years). And my family’s been fans even longer: since my niece was one (8 years). I just thought it was adorable when she’d say “boody” and sign “want” or “more.” So cute.
OK, other healthy snacks. Well, we treat snacks like mini-meals and still try to get a fruit or veg in with a protein and a carb. So, this week’s offerings are zucchini muffin with yogurt OR fruit smoothie with nuts and pretzels OR peanut butter on crackers (sandwiches made by 4-year old using cheese spreader) and red peppers with hummus.
We looooooove snack time!
We would LOVE to try this!! Thanks for the chance. mogrill@comcast.net
We don’t make a big deal about snacks. I leave out fruit and other healthy food and put the healthy snacks in the front of the cabinet, but there are always junky snacks in the cabinet. So far, they both prefer the healthier snacks to chips!

I love to find good tasting healthy snacks that the kids will eat (as well as myself). I try and keep fresh fruits available and cheese sticks for the kids but I like to have a variety for them to choose from. I have never had Pirates Booty but I bet my kids would love them just because of their name!!!

We only eat healthy snacks. Pirate’s Booty is a favorite, also anything by Earth’s Best. More and more are available nowadays!
I love Pirate Booty and the Cheese Curls. I’m also a big fan of yogurt raisins and just about any fruit.
We love Pirate’s Booty. It is one of the few treats my son can have with all of his allergies! And it is so tasty!
We are a big fan of booty in our house as we can purchase large bags at Costco! But typically I am always trying to push fruits or veges for snacks. My daughters are really into dipping, so apples and almond butter for dipping has been a big snack hit around here!
the kids will eat healthy snacks their favorites are string cheese, baby carrots and all the fresh fruit during summer
My favorite healthy snack are soy nuts. They are so good for your and taste great too.

We love to eat salads. They are so good.
We love fresh fruits and veges.
Healthy snacks can be fantastic too. I love trail mix, nuts, seasonal fruits, dried fruits and all kinds of healthy options.
we love veggies in this house.
One of my kids favorite healthy snacks are fruit leathers! Any sort of fruit is a hit at our house.
We keep lots of fresh fruits and veggies in the house. So they don’t get tired of them I rotate what I buy so they aren’t eating the same one’s over and over again.
In my family, the healthiest snacks that we like are raw fruits and veggies. They are hard to eat on the go, though, so this might be a perfect substitute. Thank you for having this giveaway.

ants on a log (celery stuffed with peanut butter with a few raisins on top) is popular here.
My experiences with healthy snacks have been very mixed. Some are fine — others horrible. Pirate’s Booty, however, is one of the really good ones!
I love Pirate’s Booty! We also like apples & caramel, fruit, nuts, cheese, raisins, & dark chocolate.
we eat lots of fruits, veggies, cottage cheese, nuts!

It can be so hard to find healthy snacks in grocery stores, besides fruit which can go bad too easily.
Healthly snacks are so easy and good.. Wee Man takes fruit over other snacks.. But it can be hard to find healthy snacks that don’t break the budget sometimes…
I have found quite a few healthier snacks at Trader Joes and I find that if I have those, my kids don’t really realize the difference between those adn the junky food even if I do so it is better just to only buy the healthy stuff and not offer the sugary junk.

My early experience with healthy snacks was hit or miss. If it wasn’t for the fresh fruit and veggies I’d have gone back to unhealthy food choices. I am so glad in the last few years they are making healthy snacks that actually taste good.
Since the snacks taste better it is easier to get the kids to try them and find out they actually like a lot of them.

I have wondered if my son would like Pirates Booty snacks (saw them at Whole Foods, but didn’t purchase).
We discovered honeycrisp apples a few years ago. They taste so good the kids (and I) look forward to them all year long. The trick is really finding healthy items that taste good.
Healthy snacks have to taste great in order to replace less healthy snacks. Otherwise nobody’s going to eat them!
Thanks for the giveaway!

Most of the healthy snacks I have tried just seem to lack in taste.I do not want to sacrifice enjoying what I am eating. Thanks!
I used to think fruit snacks were a healthier option for my kids until I got the dentist bill. I then gave up trying to feed them healthy. Thank you
The healthiest snack we have in the house is fresh fruit. Paired with peanut butter or yogurt, a great snack for the kids.
My son just discovered Pirate’s Booty on a recent camping trip and he is smitten. Yesterday, as we were leaving the grocery store, he turned to me and said “Oh, Mommy, you forgot the Pirate’s Booty!” Too cute from a four year old.
Like to give the kids some fruit and cheese and juice. Healthy snacks when the come home from school.
I find there’s a lot more options for healthy snacks nowadays. Even fast food joints offer alternatives to burgers, etc. We enjoy veggies with dip or hummus, lots of fruit and trail mix!

Low Salt or No Salt pretzels are something we like to have as snacks
Healthy snacks are given and a lot of times its by the kids choice not by my pushing.lol
I love Pirate’s Booty! I’m always looking fr healthy snacks, for myself and soon enough, for my daughter. But a snack by definition should be fun to eat, tasty. It’s a challenge to find a snack that i healthy and fun, (and not outrageously expensive). Pirate’s Booty does the trick!
I give my children fresh fruit such as bananas, raisins, dried fruit snacks, grapes and nuts. I give them cups of pudding. Sometimes I wonder if snacks I am giving them are really healthy even though They say they are.
We have never tired Pirates Booty snacks but would love too.
I am always searching for healthy snack for my family.
I don’t want them to develope weight issues like me & strive to teach them how to eat healthier.
