Win Healthy Choice Meals (10 Winners)!
CONTESTS, HEALTH | Mommy Niri | July 27, 2009 at 8:55 pm
Congratulations Winners: Angela McCoy, Janet Fricano, Nora Scott-Platt, Laura Benjamin, Valerie Mitchell, Amanda Sandico, Heather Simone, Ramishia Mckissick, Erica Carnes, and Nancy Schools
CONTEST CLOSED!!!
With the focus of how kids should eat healthy it is important to note that children live by example. Stated simply if you want the kids to eat better, then do so yourself. Of course that is easier said than done. Cooking healthy takes time and even if you did manage to carve out the time to cook, would you really want to? Prepackaged meals have (deservedly) earned a bad name for themselves by hosting ingredients too tough to pronounce and then coated with (excess) sodium to disguise the crappy taste. Needless to say not a pretty picture.
I have always known that Healthy Choice prided itself on excellent ingredients so that was a no brainer but being a vegetarian meant my choices were further limited. Lo and behold the new range took me by total surprise and deserved a second look. Here’s why:
- High in fiber for digestive health
- Antioxidants such as lycopene and vitamins A and C
- Low in fat and saturated fat
- Vegetarian options include Mediterranean Pasta, Pumpkin Squash Ravioli, Sweet Asian Potstickers, and Tomato Basil Penne
Sound yummy to you, well 10 Mommy Niri readers (you read that correctly TEN) will get a chance to try it out. Let me know what Healthy Choice you are waiting to try (or what is your favorite if you already use it). All winners will get coupons to get their choice of meal.
Want to win it?
The contest closes on the 8th August, 2009. The winner will be chosen by random.org.

I’d actually like to try the Asian potstickers. I love Chinese food.
Besides having a vegetable garden, I sneak veggies and fruit into foods that I prepare.
I’m cutting back on soda and breads
We add veggies to classic recipes, like peas in our mac and cheese and broccoli in our chicken alfredo

I have gotten my boys more involved in finding recipes that sound good, shopping for them, and then cooking the meal together. My oldest son and I agreed to find a few “new vegetables and seasonings” that he will try with an open mind. So far we get about 1 in 3 things he now likes that he wouldn’t have tried before.
We try to have more fruits and vegetables with each meal
I make sure I eat something before I go to the Grocery store, or I will by junk food. I write a grocery list, and I make sure I stick to it.
To incorporate healthy foods into my diet I grow my own veggies and herbs, choose non-processed ingredients, and cook with less fat and other calorie laden sources. I also add grated veggies like carrot, spinach, and parsnip to casseroles and even cakes! I also try to stay away from sugary juices that hide under the label of “all-natural.”

We incorporate healthy foods by buying letting the kids pick out fruits and vegetables at the store. They’re happy to eat what they chose!
Our meat loaf is quite a combination of ground meat, oat meal, soy meal, and other grains and beans.
I am trying to eat more protein and drink more water.
