Speeding My Way To A $200 Ticket!

It had been a while since we had taken a vacation. When the days are not filled with running around 2 crazily active girls, or attending a million birthdays we are caught working. Well for the long July 4th weekend we decided to venture to New Jersey, a place we have many happy memories during our dating years. Also a friend was moving to Switzerland on a research program so that gave us the perfect reason (excuse).

Anyway on the way back I decided to take the steering wheel, much to my husband’s displeasure. To be fair, he has no problem with my driving, just my speeding. Well it seems so did the police officer who pulled me over! Although my sweetheart was convinced that my immediate slowing down was what ticked off the cop, I am always a rule player and hate yanking any chains.

I also knew I deserved the ticket. Sometimes it is important to eat humble pie. Although that fine was going to make a (big) dent in our (non-existent) savings, the lesson was priceless.

After the cursory apology and thanking him for my $200 speeding ticket I was on my way a bit shaken and waiting for the lecture to begin. After a few minutes had passed, I passed a quick glance in his direction and thanked him for his silence.

Oh no! I got my first speeding ticket back in November, just a few days before my birthday. I was driving to NYC with Audrey. I was not happy, and I wasn’t excited about telling my parents…! I made Audrey do it. ;)

I’ve commented on this before…and I’ll do it again. Your husband is a catch! Be grateful. Even I wouldn’t have kept my mouth shut. I’m very impressed…

Atleast is was only $200 and not more. Don’t worry in a couple of month you will be laughing and you will always remember how you got your first ticket.
