This was one of the favorite products to review. The guys at Frecklebox created books for each of my girls and even a surprise notebook for me (I love the personalized notebook so much I have not written in it and will use it at BlogHer).

Now I have across several types of personalized books. They have ranged from lazer printed pages attached to picture pages interweaving names of family and friends, to complicated stories with very cheap quality paper. All of them had plain covers (not personalized) and had the same basic pictures.

When I came across Frecklebox, I was amazed at the quality. When asked to review the books I was excited but was concerned that the quality in print would probably not be as nice as they appeared at the website. When I received the books (the folks at Frecklebox were kind enough to offer me one for each of the girls, thus saving me dealing with a major battle on the homefront).

Here is what I loved the most about the books:

  • The quality matched (or beat) any high quality coffee table type book.
  • The pictures embedded the names of the children and with amazing clarity and interesting ways
  • The stories were simple to read to a child (or in the case of my early readers easy enough that they could read it them self).
  • The stories have substance. They have a variety to choose from. Thank you Frecklebox for offering this mama options for her girls being something other than princesses in stories. Before I get hit by some princess-loving-mama with a crown,  let me add I have nothing against princesses, I would just love my girls to have options.
  • The books have some interesting and important themes.  My favorite  of which was making your child a hero to making the world a greener place.

Any personalized gift always makes a memorable gift, but Frecklebox take personalized books to a whole new level.

Stay tuned for a surprise for Mommy Niri readers from Freckle Box. In the meantime, send someone a gift that won’t get tossed or returned.

I love Frecklebox! I ordered the My Name Is….book for my younger grandson and he loved it and his parents loved it! He learned to spell his name from it before he entered preschool. The first day he was the only one that could walk in and find their cubby for their belongings! You are right, they really are pretty books and of good quality.

I love these type of books. I remember a fun book my parents gave me and my brother.  They were personalized with our own names but spelled backwards.  So my character was a giraffe named ‘Kerred’.  I thought that was so cool.  My brother’s book had a lion named ‘Yeldarb’.  I still like to call him that every now and again…and he’s 47.
