The Good Home Cookbook, edited by Richard J Perry, is somewhat of a bible on cooking, and not for nothing. Knowing that recipes are tried and tested gives the assurance to any cook, novice or expert. I mean I certainly don’t want to find out a flop recipe with my family waiting in tow for a good meal.  Now make that over a 1000 recipes with around 500 pages of recipes and tips to devour,  and you have got a sure winner of a cookbook (speaking of winner read below how you can become one too.)

The host of recipes from fish, meats, breads, vegetables, desserts and drinks would have been enough to satisfy the thirst for any serious cookbook lover, but the icing on the cake is the holiday cooking, freezing and presentation of meal, which is sure to make this cookbook the most complete one available out there.

I love making baked brisket. It’s super easy and takes very little prep. Take a 3 pound brisket and slather it with ketchup, Over the top of this shake a package of onion soup mix. Line a glass dish with foil, place the brisket inside and cover it with another sheet of foil. Fold tightly. Bake at 325 for 2 – 2 1/2 hours. Very tender and surprisingly tasty. Really.

I am rather a novice cook as anyone who reads my blog knows. Usually it is the crockpot route for me since it is safe. But yesterday I made such a delicious dish, although it did not require any cooking. It was a chicken pasta salad that had bowtie pasta, chicken, grape tomatos, fresh mozarrella chunks, parmesan cheese and just a dash of italian dressing. It is now my favorite and I might eat it all summer long!
