Stop And Shop Listens To What Mamas Want!EVENTS, PARENTING, REVIEWS | Nirasha Jaganath | May 21, 2009 at 8:48 pm
Last week Mommy Niri was lucky to be invited along with a few other mom bloggers to hear what advice Andrea Astrachan, Consumer Advisor for Stop And Shop, had to offer to moms as they navigate their way down the aisles. As the economy hits everyone’s wallet the shopping still continues but habits have been changing. In ensuring the choices just don’t go to cheaper being the driving factor Stop And Shop have introduced a “Healthy Ideas” program. This symbol ensures that at least 10% of the RDA of a nutrient is met among other criteria. Being a mom who shops with 2 little kids in tow (I know, I also feel like I need an award each shopping trip I survive) time is of the essence so having the symbol glaring as part of the price tag assists my decision.
I was also (very) surprised to learn about the sustainable fishing practice and the highly controlled cold chain temperature maintained to ensure food quality and safety. A behind the scenes look at the cake decorating was my favorite. Another titbit that was wonderful to hear was that the supermarket was partnering with local farmer’s markets. This would not only ensure the freshest produce but also limiting the fossil fuels wasted normally during transportation.
As a mom and blogger it felt heartening to hear, and see, that some stores do care.
