Hooked On Phonics Launches New BlogEDUCATION, PARENTING | Nirasha Jaganath | April 29, 2009 at 9:24 am
It is not often you come across companies that make you proud to the bone. Reading is such a fundamental core to education and when a company makes it their business to support this you can’t help but take notice. After years of promoting phonics a company becomes entrenched in being the benchmark for reading. Of course you know who I mean, Hooked On Phonics. Now I know that many companies out there claim to be educational companies, and sure enough the “toys” they manufacture have a certain “educational” aspect to it but few, as far as I am concerned focus solely on this angle.
Well the news just gets better; Hooked On Phonics launched the Hooked On Phonics Blog (read the press release with Mommy Niri giving her support). Recently I was privileged enough to be part of a conversation with Judy Harris, the CEO of Smarterville – the makers of HOP ), and the passion she, and the other participants, expressed confirmed my belief in this company. The blog is just another avenue to talk and listen to the community of readers and want-to-be-readers.
HOP has been known to be a staunch supporter of reading in the community. A little while back they launched program in support of donating books just by you promising to read to your child. I have been an avid supporter of Hooked On Phonics and am thrilled to support this new initiative. Watch an older video of my interview with them last October at the Blogher 08 conference.
Please visit, and support, their blog. The investment in reading is something none of us can afford to ignore.
