it’s great that you got an opportunity to speak with this author. I’ve read her “not so start-sprangled..” and “monsoon summer” and found her a to be an inspirational read for young indian girls growing up in america. Fnally, characters that young Indian girls can relate to who have similar struggles, emotions, and environmental factors… Growing up is not easy, esp. when you feel that your parents and everyone around is from a different planet.. that’s teenage story anyways, it becomes double challenging for others. I sort of grew up in America too since I moved her at 17, so I could relate to Sunita and Jasmine at many levels. Thanks, this is wonderful. Looking forward to reading Ms. Perkins’ other books.
