Valentine’s Gift Ideas…

Messed up on the Birthday gift? Forgot the Anniversary? No problem, Valentines Day is here and if you plan well you may just redeem yourself. Does the thought of all that RED around Valentines Day drive you crazy? Do you hate feeling pressured by the commercialism surrounding it to actually force you do something, that you just want to do nothing? Well, instead of swimming against the tide, go with the flow. There are many ways that you can win your lady’s heart and here are just a few DO’s and DON’Ts.

  • Consider roses. Traditional red roses are never out of date, or for that matter any flowers.
  • Get her chocolates – make it look like you did some hunting to get some exotic ones.
  • Get a gift that she has been eyeing for a while (or if you have been paying attention, the gift that she has been dropping hints about for months).
  • Get her a day at the spa (or if the wallet can’t handle that then just a spa service).
  • Remember jewelery is seldom a bad idea.
  • Write a personal note on a card.
  • Get her a personalized or engraved gift.
  • Make her a gift with the children.
  • Try and make it a sentimental gift.
  • Make an extra effort to clean up after yourself, heck if you do this throughout the year it will be one of the best presents.
  • Make her a meal (just don’t leave cleaning up for her).
  • Surprise her by making child care arrangements and take her out, anywhere.
  • Feel free to ask advice from her friends.

  • Buy kitchen appliances (unless specifically asked).
  • Get a membership to a gym (unless specifically asked).
  • Buy her tools or a gift you meant for yourself.
  • Get supermarket flowers (or at least get her good quality ones there).
  • Tell her you don’t believe in Valentines Day.
  • Leave the price tag on or ask “Do you know how much I paid for that?”
  • Wait until the last minute to shop (unless it is flowers).
  • Forget to wrap the gift (if you can’t wrap to save your life spend your money on a good gift bag, don’t worry she will re-use it).
  • Buy perfume, unless you are sure you know her choice.
  • Get her a gift certificate to a restaurant, take her there instead.
  • Feel that you have to spend a lot to impress. It really is the thought (deep thoughts not just fleeting thoughts) that count.
  • Buy clothing unless you are (absolutely) certain of sizing (and taste).
  • Be late on Valentine’s day (or any day for that matter).
