My First Date!

Well to put it more accurately, my first date with my husband since we had kids. What’s so weird about that, well it has been over 3 (long) years since we had a day to ourselves. The past 3 years have been a whirlwind with having 2 beautiful girls born to us. Finally having a nanny that we love has given us an opportunity to venture out on our own. It all started out at a lunch with a friend who mentioned “You guys never take leave” and we realized that we always took time for appointments etc but never to hang out. We took the opportunity and headed out to Cambridge. We took the T (for those unfamiliar, the “T” is the MA subway system) and that in itself was an eye-opener of just how the world had changed while I was changing diapers (not that I feel I missed much, after all by being home I had an amazing front seat view of seeing life unfold day-by-day).

After a short Starbucks visit with a friend, we headed to our favorite Vietnamese restaurant at Harvard Square’s “Pho Pasteur”. We were sorry to learn that name of the restaurant was changed, but our tummies were happy to learn the food was as good as ever. After a visit to Jia’s school to discuss her 1st week at school we continued to spend our day shopping. I missed my girls and felt tinges of guilt throughout the day but consoled myself with the thought that they were having fun on an outing with the nanny. Let’s just hope it does not take another 3 years for the next date!
