Thursday Party At A Quarry

It is always a wonderful treat to have an adventure on a weekday. Not that weekend adventures are worth any less, but having a weekday adventure shortens the doldrums of the week. It was through an office summer event that we got to enjoy a quarry party. Since I had never seen a quarry I thought that it was really something else. The quarry was at some point in time a granite mine. It was breathtaking to see the steep cliffs, yet the mommy in me was scared of the sharp edges all over. The water reached more than 70 feet deep at some places, deep enough to give me goosebumps. Luckily there was a “baby pool” to shush the cries to “get in the water”. The water was surprisingly warm, a welcome change from the chilly water at the beaches.

The arrangement of the party was perfect. Everything from the well-equipped and clean amenities(super clean bathrooms and changing rooms), to the freshly catered food (and yes vegetarian too), to the toys for younger kids (for the water and out), and even the schedule of events (barbecue, games, water sports, bonfires and live music). The party continued into the wee hours of the morning but anyone who has toddlers knows that that pushing past bedtime is asking for meltdowns. My girls love water and I love watching the pure joy on their face. I may see it often but to me it could never be too often. Splash on girls!
